Artist and instructor Karen Trexler is a creator whose practice involves an examination of the way we associate objects with people, and how people may be represented or remembered by the objects they wore or often used.
Karen's work both examines and glorifies associated objects as a simulacrum of absence and memory, and focuses on creating and teaching others how to create contemporary heirlooms– or objects that are hand made to be cherished and may be used to some day recall the individual to whom they were important.
Karen recognizes jewelry as a powerful method of self expression, and her practice emphasizes creating and teaching others to create significant, handcrafted jewelry that will be cherished for years to come.
